WELCOME TO PALM SPRINGS
It’s Like No Place Else
The Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism created the phrase “Palm Springs – Like No Place Else”, and that could not be more true. It is a wonderful place to live, work, and play.
Nellie Coffman, the “mother of Palm Springs,” is credited with transforming a tiny desert village into a world-famous tourist destination. Arriving in the Coachella Valley in 1909, Nellie purchased a two-acre plot of land on the corner of what is now Palm Canyon Drive and Tahquitz Canyon Way and opened The Desert Inn. The rest, as they say, is history.
The Desert Inn put Palm Springs on the map as a “must visit” Tourist Destination. Within a few decades, the endless sunshine and serenity of Palm Springs made it a playground for Hollywood stars like Frank Sinatra, Marlene Dietrich, Bob Hope, and Loretta Young. Today’s stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Dakota Fanning, Halley Berry, and Gwen Stefani continue to seek rest and relaxation just two hours away from the Hollywood glitz. Palm Springs has also become a favored destination for travelers from throughout the world. The Palm Spring International Film Festival, one of the largest film festivals in the country, brings famous Hollywood stars to Palm Springs every year.
Palm Springs is world-famous for its incredible collection of Mid-Century Modern architecture. Modernism Week, held every year, brings over 100,000 visitors from throughout the world to tour and learn about the incredible residential architecture of this famous city.
Palm Springs offers several options for residential living. There are numerous condominium communities favored by full-time residents and snowbirds alike. Palm Springs has some 50 organized neighborhoods, each with its own style and personality. Unlike most of the other Coachella Valley cities, gated communities are few and there are many miles of marked bicycle paths, making it a biking paradise.
Whether you are looking for a mid-century home with distinctive modern rooflines and incredible mountain views, or new ultra-modern architecture, Palm Springs has an incredible array from which to choose.
A vibrant and walkable downtown, great boutique shopping, midcentury style, wonderful restaurants, a weekly downtown Village Fest, amazing hiking opportunities, all abound in Palm Springs.
Warning: If you come to visit, you will want to live here. However, that is great, as there are countless reasons to make this vibrant and exciting world-famous city your home.
